You’re assuming a pardon is a sure thing. PM doesn’t control a pardon. He does control whether he cooperates or not. Would you trust Trump to be loyal to you, particularly when it would come with such a steep political cost for Trump and financial cost for you (lawyers fees)?

It's unethical to use a threat of prosecution as a bargaining chip. She may have civil exposure for corporate funds obtained fraudulently by her Manafort, & for back taxes, but that isn't Mueller's jurisdiction.

But if there was a threat it would be well-understood what the absence of protection might mean. And if no info were given, Feds surely wouldn’t bother.
