One way we’re going to know if Manafort has anything on Trump is by Trump’s next moves. Because if he’s really got something on him, Trump will absolutely pardon him right now and fire Rosenstein. He won’t care about the supposed political blowback.

But this presupposes that Manafort has already been disloyal. Suppose Trump thinks a pardon would short circuit Manafort from, say, lying in order to frame him. Why on earth wouldn’t he pardon him?
-
There is ample evidence in today’s documents that Manafort already sang. Maybe not this morning, but proffered earlier. See
@NatashaBertrand. He gave it up and got a deal.https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/09/paul-manafort-trump-mueller-trial/570331/ … -
Right. He went in Monday, while Rudy was still insisting Manafort was loyal, and may well have visited the GJ this morning before pleading.
-
I know. But you’re assuming what he have up was on Trump. I think that this may not be a simple ladder-up conspiracy. Mueller may have gotten value from PM for unlocking another gate that only potentially gets him to Trump.

I think you're assuming I'm assuming.
-
Okay that’s fair.
