Paul Manafort's $46 Million Plea Deal https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/09/14/paul-manaforts-46-million-plea-deal/ … This plea deal includes all the accounts in original DC indictment, the Federal Savings Bank one from EDVA, plus another account, all subject to criminal AND civil forfeiture.

Would you mind elaborating briefly on that point, Marcy? Thank you.

The property is taken pursuant to civil forfeiture process. I think pardons only relate to criminal convictions (not civil), so Trump wouldn’t be able to do anything about forfeited property.

Thanks Jimmy.

FYI, it is now being confirmed, that the Manafort plea confirms that any changes to his criminal conviction will have no impact on the property forfeitures. Meaning if Manafort is pardoned, DOJ can still seize/keep his property.

Right. Civil forfeitures.
