4. Even after a pardon, don't expect a furlough between convictions: "It could be there's a sealed indictment ready to go and as soon as Manafort is released from federal prison, there's a van waiting to take him to state prison." And after witness tampering, no bail for you.

In any case, in case y'all didn't see
@awprokop's point that EDVA forfeiture DOES seem tied to counts 29 and 30 (which makes the stakes of retrial quite high). https://www.emptywheel.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/180817-Forfeiture-Verdict.pdf … -
What verdict form indicated, yes. But the superseding indictment listed counts 24-32. And under their inclusion of 28 USC §2461 language, does that mean civil forfeiture is still available? I don't honestly know, but, again, think the forfeiture question more complex than assumed
-
SCO confirmed it was only tied to 29 and 30.
-
Again, there is a difference between criminal and civil.

Yes. I didn't buy them but they were unsealed a few weeks ago. It's during the back and forth about bail issues. Jackson said she's done some things to address defense concerns about paying legal fees. And I think there was passing discussion of the forfeiture cases.
-
Yeah, I saw they were unsealed but haven't looked. Curse you Gerstein, there goes my afternoon and about $30 in transcript PACER fees.
-
I don't think you can get them on pacer, but I could be wrong. I'd have sprung for that.
-
Arent't they from January and February?
-
right but access through pacer depends not on the date of the event but the date the transcript was filed. These were filed last month so won't be cheap until November.
-
Well surely you had nothing better to do with your afternoon than go sit in Prettyman's Clerk Office?
-
I'm there a couple times a week. You know there is a high-profile grand jury meeting there? So this is a side trip.
-
That's just one day a week, tho.
