So the bottom line is that prosecutors could craft a grant of broad immunity to compel testimony. But that has nothing to do with the effect of a pardon. The immunity grant does all the lifting.

That is just not necessarily true at all. That said, with nothing left in the fed system they could additionally grant immunity. By the way, Manafort could still have exposure, depending on the pardon structure, to further federal exposure as to a comprehensive Russian conspiracy
