I do. Because once he is released from prison, he will go to ICE custody and be deported. Automatic and pretty much no defense to it, since his conviction is for fraud. So a short sentence means he'll be back in Russia.

That's not the sentence length. It's the sentencing date.

If he is assisting, at sentencing, he will likely get a 5K downward departure, and a judge could sentence him to 0 time. This makes sure he is here as needed.

Yep. 3-4 months would be typical, though you see them extended periodically for various reasons (like Flynn still being needed).
