He's a dishonest person. I remember the first thing he said when he accepted Trump's nomination was a bald faced lie said to the entirety of America. What was it exactly? Something like, "No President has ever had a more thorough and diverse process of picking a justice.."

Yup. That's right.

Oh good. I got something right. I can pack it in for the day

I gave Wittes a pass on advocacy for his pal Comey, because Comey IS basically decent (though full of himself and guilty of a historical misjudgment). But on Kavanaugh no way. He's a corrupt creature from the right wing fever swamps wrapped in smug white privilege.

Oh, his worst was Ben protecting his buddy Jonathan Fredman, who played a key role in torture. https://www.emptywheel.net/2013/04/02/pulling-weeds-for-think-tank-employees-my-response-to-wittes-response/ …

and his stance that he thought there was so much bipartisanship on the nominations it was normal GOP staff wd have was so bogus
-
it was so disingenuous, to me revealed quite obvious capacity for self-serving faux naivete and mendacity
-
which i guess I accept can exist in an otherwise mostly “nice person”

I like Ben. And... I think "honorable" is a word that doesn't fit with what we've been learning about Kavanaugh.
-
could accept that he seems like a decent person in how he conducts himself with the people he works with, family, etc.
-
Fair enough. "Within his tribe"... "Within his peer group." The test, I guess, for all of us is how we comport ourselves in the broader context of community. Everybody lies. I lie. But there HAS to be a higher standard with regard to jurists. I'm preaching to the choir. Sorry.

He's gotten away with being the aw-shucks altar boy his whole life. But, as was apparent at the hearing, when his face turned red & he stammered when asked an unanticipated question, he's hiding stuff. And he's terrified that it'll come out.

Is nycsouthpaw just trolling Wittes w/ the email? I don't know what to make of it.
-
I think the email shows Ben prepping to criticize Pryor. But it is proof Kavanaugh was more involved in Pryor's confirmation than he said to the Senate.
-
Yeah, so much for Ben's assertion that none of HIS emails are very interesting.

Don’t think Kavanaugh’s personal “decency” is worth debating. His honesty, under oath, is certainly an issue, as are his extreme views on a range of topics.

And his mysterious debt and its mysterious payoff
