NEW: I obtained a bunch of Twitter DMs between Maria Butina and Alexander Torshin, complaining about Dimitri Simes and Hank Greenberg:https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.thedailybeast.com/maria-butina-private-messages-reveal-accused-russian-spys-true-ties-to-dc-wise-man …

The only word I could think of would be хозяйка?
-
No, "хозяйка" does not work like that. Could be "начальница". Or just "босс" - that's a legit Russian word. It's nominally masculine, but when talking about a female boss, you just use it w/ feminine forms - "наша босс" or "босс сказала", so it becomes unambiguously feminine. 1/2

Does that make sense? - Doesn't need to, lol. All these archaic indo-european structures, like gendered verbs and such, are as complex as they are redundant... 2/2

Lol it does. I'm pretty functional in Russian, and my TESOL training has made me elementarily conversant in linguistics.

I'm a native speaker. But sometimes, when I try to *think* about how Russian grammar works, I'm like, holy crap, this is a bizarre language... and it's clearly for people who are in no hurry, and have all the time in the world to pepper their speech with redundant flourishes. :)
