(Not responding directly, because I don’t know if that is true—) Personallu, I what I have seen of the so-called counter-culture has been disappointing— and as capable of conspiracy thinking, misunderstanding of history; and for where is relevant unread; and unethical.

Nods. The conversation is always rigged— and that goes from mainstream to any clique. Maybe a function of media economics, society or both. But, that I can’t think of an alternative platform that satisfies my requirement, may be my own failing; or reflective of a deficiency.

I don’t think that is a specifically American problem— although admittedly I am not endorsing the quality of cheap talking head world wide cable broadcasting content — just, want to add that is an inherent problem with democracies— its chief vices are pandering and flattery.

Also media economics; and the formula for of TV theatrics. Content is cheap; can be distributed across multiple platforms. And you are right to point out TV sells audiences to advertisers.
-
But for the high cost of producing— distribution costs are so much cheaper today— so that brings me back to the question of alternative. The mainstream is a distraction for me— that will always be mainstream— more interested in seeming dearth of alternatives (or I guess niche).

My personal preference for an alternative is 1) credibility, rigour in thought 2) capable of dialogue and with other view points 3) genuinely interested in public comprehension 4) not allowing itself to be infiltrated or used by foreign intel services
-
5) interested in holding the line, creating a space, attract not promote 6) expertise in intelligence, national security, and/or various ethical theories related to both

Curious whether there're any studies into what percentage of regular paid experts have cross-platform book deals etc. with the various other arms of our corporate media entities?
