I learned so much about journalism from both watching & working at @democracynow for many years. So the Russiagate era has been perplexing. Here's @emptywheel asserting existence of a Trump-Russia "conspiracy" as established truth without any pushback: https://www.democracynow.org/2018/8/22/michael_cohen_pleads_guilty_implicates_trump …pic.twitter.com/HyH4z6j0w3

Aaron: Even pretending you engage with the actual evidence rather than your cute caricature of it, do you know what is legally required for a conspiracy?

Here's a hint: All that's required for a criminal conspiracy is in the public record. That's it!! But that would require you to become familiar with the public record.

Marcy -- I know you believe, also based on your own reporting, that there was a conspiracy. My point is that the adversarial show you were interviewed on didn't challenge you to substantiate your assertion of it. Had they, you could've cited the public record as you did here.

but since you raise it -- you'll agree that there is no allegation of a Trump-Russia conspiracy in the public record (Mueller, court docs, etc). So where is the evidence for it?

There have been numerous allegations that are not *yet* charged. With the President's senile lawyer arguing that it shouldn't be charged bc Don Jr is just too dumb to know. But you are aligning yourself in the more senile than Rudy camp.

I get that you think as soon as Don Jr hit send on "I love it" that was a Conspiracy. But surely you understand that what's been alleged by Democrats all along is an ACTUAL conspiracy in which they coordinated the hacking and disseminating of the DNC emails

Yes, they had to have an agreement to do something illegal. Jr agreeing to a meeting hoping to get documents harmful to Clinton is not illegal.

Except, yeah, it is. His simply agreeing to take that meeting already provides the legal elements of conspiracy. Especially in light of the prior Papadapolous context.https://twitter.com/morten/status/1032523317964681216 …

It's a simple question: what crime was committed by taking the meeting? It constituted a conspiracy to commit what?

And my response will remain an equally simple one: It's not my job to wipe the arse of people who refuses to read the record before him. Go read the filings.

There is no filing that charges anyone with conspiracy to commit a crime for taking that meeting.

Charges? No. Lays out probable cause? Yes. In a framework that has been explained extensively in a number of other filings. Again, stop wailing like a toddler and try to do a bit of reading.

What crime? Please tell me you don't also think it's the defrauding/impeding the US statute. No way you're that stupid. You know how that law has been interpreted & what the implications would be if this meeting violated that statute.
