Can you explain the media’s need to know juror names and addresses? Is this a normal request?
-
-
-
Completely. The media likes to talk to jurors after the verdict to learn why they decided in the way they did. Where there names aren't released indiv jurors may come forward, but they often self-select to spin the deliberations.
-
It's especially important in a case like this where there's real reason to worry about jury tampering.
-
For illustrative purposes only, what will life look like for the individuals once the media has the names/addresses? An phone call?An unannounced visit? What if a juror or jurors declines to speak with media? Would the assumption be he/she was tampered with?
-
Both, yes. If a juror declines to speak, no assumption (often the default). You learn about tampering as much from other jurors as anything else. But tampered w/jurors may be most anxious to speak.

It appears to me that you retweeted a Trumpist/InfoWars shill account. Is that what you had intended to do?
-
I intended to point out that that shill account didn't understand the risk here.

I am not even close to being a lawyer, so lawyers, please help. It sounds to me as if the media lawyer is trying to get the judge to explicitly state for the record that the jurors could be in jeopardy. I.e., not so much to lift secrecy, but to ensure protection.
-
I don't have transcript but I imagine he was actually trying to get something to appeal.
-
I’m just going from snippets of transcript in thread you attached.

(So a highly leveraged interpretation by an unqualified commenter here)

When it comes to the GOP, I've learned to hear their rhetoric but then look at them for the violations they suggest of others. It has worked out that way. They commit the issue but then spin it onto others.

The jurors are having a great time “having birthday parties”. Trying to understand what’s the hold up..? The wanted graphs and the story board..? Were they not paying attention
-
Judge made clear when jury asked questions that they had to depend on what they heard. Which is what they’re told day one. Lots of courts to not allow note taking, in this case they could.
-
I know.. I know... but to be frank.. this is a slam dunk case what’s with the extra deliberation
-
Complexity? And the judge hasn’t helped with his prodding. Apologizing for what he said to prosecution has to have confused st least one juror.
