Legal tip: Blowing off not one but THREE grand jury appearances is far more than simply trying to quash a subpoena.pic.twitter.com/65XLczLhGT
Anyway I’m glad NYT chose to write a puff piece on Stone so that the piece I’ve had in the works for a week on the really obvious reasons why Stone is in trouble will be news when I post it in 3 days.
NYT hed: poor Grandpa Roger might face legal jeopardy for his Enhanced Political Opposition Techniques.
Here's my non puff piece on what Mueller seems to be investigating. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/08/11/like-a-rat-fucking-stone/ … Downside: Unlike the NYT I don't treat Stone as a sweet old "piratical trickster." Upside: I actually present information of use.
Another upside: Unlike NYT's stupid ass puff piece, I realize Stone is not a focus JUST bc he knew what Wikileaks was going to dump.
NYT is in. The. Bag. for rightwing conservative Trumpism, it's time people wake up to that fact.
They know the history but they feel compelled to present Republicans in the best light possible to help Republicans and their agenda. Its a Republican propaganda outlet staffed with disgusting biased Republicans who live to shill for their horrible agenda.
New York Times reporters sometimes write online as if they were asleep at the wheel sometime in their education. There was a non-political piece last year that asked, "What is Hawaii?" I could see that as a headline in 1918, but NOT 2018! Like the author and you BOTH didn't know.
For the uninitiated, I often suggest this 10 year-old Jeffery Toobin profile:http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2008/06/02/the-dirty-trickster …
I am starting to wonder if the NYT uses ‘got his start on the national stage’ as a code for ‘name first appeared in the NYT’.
Writer has only been with the Times since 1999, so....
