You'd think a guy who claims to be a billionaire would pay a lawyer who wouldn't lie to him. But then paying (or often as not, not paying) people to lie to him is how Trump got to where he is.https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-at-a-precarious-moment-in-his-presidency-privately-brooding-and-publicly-roaring/2018/08/04/4b463842-9736-11e8-810c-5fa705927d54_story.html …

Anyway, rather than reporting on Trump's delusions, I'd love to see the story that says, "Here's what Trump advisors think he'll do when Junior gets indicted." Bc that's what I really want to know.

For his part, Junior will excuse entering into a conspiracy with Russians to get Pop elected bc the agreement to conspire happened before everyone was crazy abt Russia. (He made this excuse in his SJC testimony IIRC)

Would that ever happen? What exactly would the potential charges be? Also, since Trump has discussed preemptively pardoning people, wouldn't he just do that? I don't see too much of a chance that GOP congressmen would object to it.

Well he perjured himself in the congressional testimony, for one thing, and sought illicit campaign contributions.

I understand that, but even if he was indicted, what would happen? The obviously corrupt president would let his corrupt son go turn himself into the FBI, who've they've been painting as monsters for a year? Congress ideally would step in somehow, but they're often complicit.

If it's after Democrats take Congress back Trump will get impeached. If it's before or if they don't take Congress back, just have to hope that at that point the political pressure on Congressional Republicans becomes so great that they have to act.

The tone of these articles, both from the NYT and from the WaPo, has really changed. Just months ago, it used to be "Trump is angry about the Mueller probe, thinks it's a distraction" and now it's "Trump is worried about the probe." Same leakers, different stories.

Great idea: "his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. — are ensnared in the Russia probe, in his assessment simply because of their connection to him." or "simply because he conspired with an enemy foreign power to benefit him."

"where a Democratic takeover brings with it the specter of impeachment, " to "brings the specter of revealing the obvious facts, which might even lead enough Republican Senators to vote for conviction."

The clean-up when his head explodes is going to take awhile. In the alternative, would be ok w/his resignation in lieu of Jr.’s indictment. And a one-way ticket to Moscow.

That would interesting. And telling. Do his advisors yet understand that trump will not act to protect his son in the same way one expects a normal father to?
