No. That's not what Mueller is focusing on Trump for. Which is my point. This is a big scoop misrepresenting what Mueller is investigating. Which is an effort Rudy has been pushing with great success, which is why those letters came out.

Marcy, sometimes honorable people can disagree on issues in the political discourse. I believe Mueller's obstruction probe is legitimate & important. You don't. I have no reason to question your integrity or character for having a different opinion, and hope you believe the same.

Murray. It's not that I don't believe an obstruction inquiry is legitimate. It's that I know better, knowing FAR MORE about this case than you, than to believe it's the end all and be all. Moreover, I have very good reason to believe the focus on it right now is a WH strategy.

Now if you want to dismiss my far greater knowledge about this case as an attack on your integrity, I guess that's your prerogative. Again, all I said is that I didn't find that article all that interesting. I don't. Sorry.

Marcy, are you contending Mueller does not have an active investigation into obstruction? Is that what you mean by: "That's not what Mueller is focusing on Trump for"? Why then all the reports of witnesses being asked questions related to obstruction, for instance?

Are the Stone witnesses -- the only recent witnesses who've spoken with the press -- talking about obstruction? Nope. So where are the neverending series of stories suggesting obstruction is primary focus of Mueller wrt Trump coming from? Hmmm. The White House. Why is that?

When those Sekulow questions were released in June, they made it clear that Mueller was increasingly focused on "collusion," not obstruction. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/06/02/what-got-added-to-sekulows-list-further-obstruction-including-considering-of-firing-mueller-and-collusion/ … Even still loyal scribes pushing the obstruction story pitched the list as an obstruction story.

The reason I find this take, which does have some evidence to support it, hard to accept is that building an obstruction case against Trump is such an obvious tactical move to be prepared for whatever Trump may do in the future and to perhaps inhibit him somewhat ..

Perhaps I have a different view of the most obvious tactics here.

I am sure you do, and it may well be a good one, but that's my authentic reaction to the take FWIW. I think your analysis of the public record on this is good, but I haven't figured out how the underlying dynamics make it plausible.

That's fair. I'm at least as frustrated not sharing what I think I know as people are peeved listening to me do so. But I'm not going to do anything to fuck up the investigation.
