Really looking forward to @ggreenwald's beat-down of Chait making claims about his ideology for another of his scolding screeds.https://twitter.com/jonathanchait/status/1023919131941326848 …

Our local lefties want to cast all the blame of 2016 on HRC and "sell out Dems" without investigation of what appears to be a plan by the Kremlin to infiltrate the GOP which is alarming. I don't thinks Dems are perfect, but there's more to the story than a simple loss, right?
Sure. And both need scrutiny. As well as a bunch of other things.
We agree on this, and many other things, I am a big fan of yours.I am a leftie myself and certainly not a FBI fangirl, but there's a vast conspiracy between the GOP and several hostile foreign powers that must be halted for the sake of everyone in the world TBH
I think the main concern from the left is that people are focusing on the Russia stuff to avoid thinking about the mistakes made in 2016. And even if certain things are proven, there’s little that can really be done. So it seems like a distraction from more important fights.
Collusion is neither illegal nor punishable, and the percentage of people who currently support trump who will stop if it’s proven he colluded is minimal at best.
Liberals seem convinced that at some point we will “prove” that Trump is “bad”. But if someone isn’t convinced yet, they likely never will be. Better to spend our time talking about voter disenfranchisement, gerrymandering, ending electoral college, not running from Center, etc
Marcy, have you not paid attention to Greenwald in the last year or do you dislike Chait so much that you're painting Greenwald's constant moving of goalposts & whatabouting the Trump-Russia+ 'collusion' as reservations abt FBI? P.S. Giuliani just caught up with Greenwald.pic.twitter.com/0B3no9jo14
I made a point about a stupid tactic Chait used, to support an argument for which the evidence isn't there.
Or maybe...just maybe, it's the hope that a lifelong criminal will finally be held accountable for his actions.
But does that fix anything? Damage has already been done, and Trump is just a figurehead. The train will keep moving even if he’s removed, albeit without the dancing monkey to distract from what is largely being done administratively in quiet.
It's a fine line, for sure. It is crucial that we're always skeptical of law enforcement and intelligence; at the same time, if SCO makes legit cases for white collar crimes, and Manafort, etc. finally have to pay for the impunity they've been afforded their entire lives... good!
I admit that, politically, I don't want candidates to talk about RU. I want SCO to do the job. I want candidates to talk about issues of wealth and income inequality, like M4A and criminal justice reform (especially for drug crimes). I want to hear how to stop voter suppression.
Totally agree on that.
Most liberals, even the ones most obsessed with Trump-Russia, will never forgive James Comey for what he did in 2016. How is that "an uncritical celebration of FBI and its leaders"?
Blanket statement is blanket.
You are saying the left is right but for the wrong reasons. They is exactly what neocons said about the left’s opposition to the Iraq war
Personally, I think it wrong to use the term "left" here. If you do not acutely remember the destructive role of anti-communism in US politics, you are not on the left.
“The Left” is a v broad church. Another expl of #Trumputin’s rise blames failed neolib policies, espec the failed 1990s RU “transition”+the resulting fin relations w garchs+OC crime, mainly FSU. Most #MSM missed this when it counted. #Mueller skates around it.
