I'm guessing they used the fact that it would interfere with the supreme court nomination process in the Senate.

Maybe pointed out...It makes Rosenstein look like a victim (he is, but this makes it worse). Maybe suggested an analogy to impeachment of Clinton and how that went, esp b/c the House GOP is already endangered, how at least 2 of the 6 articles were utterly out of his control...

Probably offered to put it on the floor right away. Where it would of failed miserably.

Maybe they explained they were setting the bar low for high crimes and misdemeanors..

Best one I’ve heard. Although I’m inclined to think the whole thing was a fundraising stunt, and they can fundraise off it better if it gets tabled, as opposed to failing.

I fear they said they’d vote for Jordan if he shut his mouth for a bit.

Looks more like Mark and Gym had to check a box before Speaker would allow process on contempt to proceed. He told them they had to try impeachment first.

I'm not sure that success was ever the intent. Giving Trump a pretext is all they were going for, and they've done that.

Raising the Q: If R ldrs truly convinced the sponsors, wld the sponsors hv intro'd it? PS: They cld have brought it to the floor as a privileged res & thereby forced a vote w/in 2 days; while this res was referred to Judiciary, they can bring a new one as a privileged res.

-
JJ filed for impeachment of RR so he could put the spotlight on the ongoing row between committees of Congress and the DOJ/FBI, & kick off his speakership campaign with a bang. There will be no follow through (even if the resolution has enough votes). Wait till October.
-
Tomorrow in the Record we'll see how many cosponsors he gained since yesterday.
-
Won't matter, they're not pulling the trigger any time soon.
-
Regardless of trigger, it matters.
