I’m a little confused, I thought our analysis of that section was more or less in agreement—that it’s about showing Page’s effort to conceal conduct.

Yes. I'm a bit stronger than you. That section might be a "we take from this it's evidence of denial and deception and therefore clandestine" explaining the (7E). Prolly not specific intel given ONLY 7 exemptions.

Only B7? I’m looking at the end of the “Denials” section and it’s got B(1) and B(3) exceptions also.

What would not be surprising is if they had independent corroboration that Page *met* with one or both Russian officials, but only Steele as the basis for what was said in the meetings (“kompromat” etc.).

Except ... it would be surprising bc we'd know about that. And it's inconsistent with the Schiff memo.

This section of Schiff's memo refers to this section of the last application. If there were a mention proving Sechin and Dvorkovich in the first, it'd be addressed here.pic.twitter.com/0NysF8kk5e

I don’t know if that rules out their having *something* beyond Steele in the first application and more substantial corroboration later, but yeah, that does probably weigh against my idea.

It's absolutely clear Page had meetings w/Russians of interest, especially as they kept wiretapping or analyzed more of his stored comms. There remains not a shred of evidence he met w/Sechin and Dvorkovich, which is consistent with the unreliability of rest of the dossier.

Page says in his HPSCI testimony he met with Baranov while in Moscow, who was a senior executive at Rosneft. That was planned ahead of time, so if they read his emails, I would expect that to be in there somewhere.

Yup. As I note in about everything I write, Page might present interesting temporal restrictions, if they tried to shield stored comms from his time on the campaign. But he did travel overseas during the tail end of the period when 704b was a shitshow.
