Here's the thing: We have something called Democracy. If the social democrats win (and in some places they are) where you don't expect it then maybe that's a sign of democracy working.

Also, by all accounts from friends and relatives in Norway & Sweden, their leadership is sensible, balanced, and ethical, and at the same time, democratic socialist.
-
Strictly speaking we're social democracies, not democratic socialist
-
I think you're talking about exactly the same thing, syntax aside.

Though the terms are often used interchangeably in the US, there is a difference

Indeed. But it is actually the Nordic model that an increasing number of Americans are finding attractive.

Yeah I think that might be a better name for the public, avoids confusing terms

You never hear anyone saying Republicans shouldn’t tack to the far right and that they need to come to the Center. Kind of odd how it’s always the Democrats who need to be the party who compromises and comes to middle but never the Republicans.

"Sensible, balanced, ethical leadership," y'know, the type that allows one public lie to persist (that FBI sees no tie between the Trump campaign and Russia) while breaking protocol to provide fodder supporting another public lie (that Clinton had concealed relevant emails).

I think he's right on this point. I've been a political centrist most of my life. we need unity and a big tent to contain
#trump. He's truly an existential threat to our#ruleoflaw and system of government. Extremism is a good way to lose elections. see#RMN vs#McGovernThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I think it’s funnny that a number of high profile Republicans want to remake the Democratic Party into a place that they would be comfortable in. No thanks. Pls fix the inhuman ideas and awful people in YOUR Party.

Yeah, his referral to a "Great American middle" ? What middle? That was blasted beyond the stratosphere in 2009 w/ bank bailout. I was Dem for 40 yrs. No more. Until Dems get back behind FDR politics and end the love affair with Wall Street/Corp, I'm Indy.

The thing is... what's seen as the socialist left now was the right during the Nixon era. Heck, he proposed a guaranteed basic income. That's how far right we've moved over the years.
