1) I've avoided DNC-CS-FBI server issue mainly cause a) I'm not tech savvy b) am more concerned w/ collusion (email hacks are not 9/11; if RU colluded w/ Trump, that's huge) but this 2017 @emptywheel post (surprisingly? given her stance now) raises Qs: https://www.emptywheel.net/2017/01/06/on-the-dnc-server-fight/ …

Ok, I guess that’s what it comes down to: to what extent is attribution/evidence based on sources outside of CS. Also, note at time you said possibility of a leak was “not impossible”, so I’m assuming the GRU evidence you’re confident in has emerged since then.pic.twitter.com/Ol6VYGpfFR

Yup! And again, anyone who looks only at the DNC at this point is being a fool, and/or deliberately misunderstand the scope of the attack.
-
I am still stuck on why would j download from a website when he has uses a secure drop methodology? That still seems odd to me
-
I think that's the wrong question. I think the question is why didn't WL's source want to use SecureDrop? In any case, I'm not sure SecureDrop is as secure as we'd all like.
-
Jumping in here just to clarify: WL does not use SecureDrop, they use their own proprietary submission system

why are you still not shunned? Since when can journalists snitch in secret to the FBI and be considered anything but an FBI asset?

It's entirely possible I'm overlooking something that's obvious to both of you, but if it's true, as we're told, only Crowdstrike handled the servers, how rock-solid could info be from 20 other sources attributing this in particular to a GRU hack? Exactly how would THEY know?
-
It's like the evidence for a murder case can be evaluated by independent experts without moving the entire bathroom where the murder took place into the evidence room. Disk images Memory dumps Network logs. etc.
-
Did anyone BUT Crowdstrike independently "see" a "Kilroy was here"-type cyber-inscription in Cyrillic that paid homage to the NKVD (pre-KGB) founder? Are "independent experts" depending on the integrity of the one expert IN the "bathroom" despite legit Q's about that expert?
-
Yes, except I don't know WTF Kilroy is.
-
.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilroy_was_here … Crowdstrike claimed to have found something seemingly gratuitous and graffiti-like in Cyrillic mentioning the 1st Soviet Intel head, which seemed more like what someone would do to frame Russia than what an actual Kremlin hack would have done.
-
LOL, did you ever consider that it could have been Jimmy Hoffa? You know he's Hillary Rodham's REAL father, right? And he's still alive, though now he's restricted to his tank at the Soros Immortality Institute.
-
Leading off with "LOL" and equating my point with the most absurd thing you can think of pretty much blows your own cover as someone making sound, objective, educated observations here. Do you think I'm making up the Cyrillic story? If not, what's illogical about my point?

Do you really have a handle on how network forensics works? Do you realize how easy it is to spoof anything and everything?
