One thing Micah Lee notes in this piece (which I've been saying for over a year) is that US companies provided key info on DNC hack. It's not just NSA, at all.https://theintercept.com/2018/07/18/mueller-indictment-russian-hackers/ …

One gripe I have about the Intercept article is the writer fails to mention that they are the ones who provided the information that made Reality Winner's arrest possible, via the printer metadata on the document images.

Great point, we just updated the story.

Ryan, I scrolled through
@theintercept & didn't see@micahflee's story. 2nd try saw it tucked in a corner.@ggreenwald &@jeremyscahill praise themselves for editorial independence & have much decried lack of evidence & now The Intercept is hiding the piece that lays it out? -
It was on the top of the site for much of yesterday, it's just gotten older so it has been moved down the page a bit, totally normal for us. Of course on purely selfish grounds I'd love to keep it at the top for like a week :-)

I can't even...the piece that lays out detailed evidence of **how Russia hacked US elections** & was published a few hours ago is now not very relevant? It should be showcased for much longer b/c it's v imp & b/c
@ggreenwald has been screaming "no evidence" for a year. -
No it was published yesterday, almost 24 hours ago exactly
-
I get it isn't up to you re what stories The Intercept promotes. But the it's now aft 24 hrs argument is pretty ridiculous considering the importance of topic/Russia hacking US election + the ink that Intercept—esp its founders—has spent denying & demanding evidence. 7/19/18

Caused "North Carolina & Virginia, both VR Systems customers, to begin searching their internal emails for evidence" of being spear-fished.

Interesting, author would know about the AVID articles, yet no mention at all. Also, indictment is all GRU, but previous reporting also mentioned FSB role. Does it look like FSB not involved, or just that they only tied down GRU role?

Looks like
@emptywheel deleted all her replies to me. B/c I cited@with_integrity 's ongoing questioning of IC assessment of Russian govt hacking that ignores possibility of inside leak, even tho facts say latter can't be ruled out? This bothered her too back in 2017@aaronjmate -
She has blocked me. I hope she gets her vision checked soon.

The AIVD was hacking into SVR hacking team, not GRU according to article on the hack.
