For fuck sake people. Can we stop waggling this word so loosely?https://twitter.com/DavidCornDC/status/1018486304349343744 …

Paul was on TV delivering Russia Today talking points this morning. Batting for the other team is generally considered at least traitorous if not actually treasonous.
-
It's an RT talking point that we should protect our elections?
-
He countered the Russian election interference news with the classic Putin whataboutism: "what about Hillary interfering in tve Kremlin elections in 2011." A well-known textbook Kremlin talking point.
-
Also critically important for people to understand that Putin believes that if they want to be even marginally intelligent on this stuff.
-
Don’t need to be Putin’s hype man to get that point across. If I was an American patriotic Senator I’d just say “Putin believes X.” He’s providing comfort to the enemy. I’m sure Putin was very happy with Paul’s performance.
-
Not only that, we all know he’d be singing a different tune if Russia aided the Dems, HRC was POTUS and there was evidence her entire family conspired to steal the WH. Maybe he’s not Russia & GOP over country but he’s definitely GOP over country and that seems traitorous too.
-
Yes. In context, Rand Paul's comments offer aid & comfort to an enemy who is in open state of hostility with us and CONTINUES to attack our electoral systems. Which will benefit Rand Paul's party, and him personally. Traitor is appropriate even if it won't ever be proved in ct.

Let’s call him an enabler, like all the other Vichy Republicans turning a blind eye to Russian subversion.
-
If you construe GRU attacks as a Casus Belli, then domestic participants in that (ongoing) attack would be reasonably termed traitors.
-
Also, Rand has had some questionable contacts with RUS officials: http://www.businessinsider.com/russian-embassy-deletes-2-key-words-in-tweet-about-rand-paul-meeting-2018-3 … and https://www.newsweek.com/cold-war-mccain-paul-russia-nato-568816 ….

Giving succor and cover to traitors — aiding and abetting after the fact— can also be called treacherous.

They are many ways to betray one’s country. A congressman knowingly & purposefully aligning one’s messages with adversarial propaganda is a betrayal.

I dunno traitor seems like a great word for someone who betrays their country or friend, someone who sells out to the enemy and backstabs us. Ryan calls this a witch hunt & wants to just focus on prevention but the only ones trying to figure what to prevent he wants to shut down.
