The REASON it's incorrect is 1) we know even from public releases there were separate RU CI investigations 2) Republicans are conflating all "investigations into RU operation" to discredit the collusion one.
I keep pointing out that the information I shared was not touched by Peter Strzok. That's bc it came in via another one of those investigations. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/07/11/peter-strzok-is-a-sideshow-to-information-that-directly-implicates-the-president/ …

I wonder what the repercussions of charging foreign government IO people with CFAA will be. Surely foreign governments, including especially Russia, but others as well, won't allow this escalation to go unanswered. The article has a blind spot for this.
It's not an escalation, but it is a problem. @MalwareJake, @daveaitel, and I have been writing about this for years.

also, it is a problem that the lawfare authors look past
@jacklgoldsmith has written a lot about this too.
Soooooooooo many law-cooks in this kitchen.pic.twitter.com/8uBg3sf0WK
Who's really evil in all this? You know what I think? The DNC and Hillary. They rigged an election so much more than any Russians ever could or did. The hack tells the truth. I like truth.
Some of those hacked emails were edited by the Russians to be more incriminating before they were released. If you're looking for truth from a propaganda campaign you're doing it wrong.
Link to this evidence?
Thanks. Per these articles some minor alterations were detected by experts but none of the emails were specifically refuted by the campaign.
The main thing that's relevant now isn't rehashing Hillary's freakin emails anymore-you may have noticed she's not in office. The main point is that Russian intelligence directly conspired and acted to make Trump president. Focusing on Hillary is what Russia would like us to do.
The focus should be on the ongoing vulnerabilities of our electronic voting systems & assuring transparency & public confidence beginning with instituting hand-marked paper ballots with a secure chain of custody & protocols for effective audit.
Absolutely agree.
Accessible for even this non tech, non lawyer type. Very informative.
"Leaker in Chief"sounds like they have a view-not the dispassionate analysis u claim it is! Their statement that this was not a PR move because that is not who Mueller is is not objective & is contradicted by stating that this was strong message from federal law enforcement.
I read that too but Trump does lie a lot, although after that one comment it was written very carefully. The statement that it is a strong message from law enforcement could be an answer to assertions that GOP and Trump have stated this is a witch hunt. This is not a witch hunt.
Depends on what u r describing as the with hunt. Did the Russians look to influence the US electorate & exploit already existing discord. Seems pretty obvious they did. However, did this effort directly manipulate the voting process & result in a Trump victory? #witchhunt
I think you are jumping the gun on claiming it didn't manipulate the voting process and result in a Trump victory. I agree we haven't yet seen enough credible evidence from which to make the claim either way. #2cents
If after over a year Mueller has not found forensic evidence that actual votes were altered or otherwise manipulated - and it is reasonable to assume he has not because if he had that is what the indictment would allege #notherethere
You go right ahead and "assume" all you want - it's only an assumption - reasonable or not. I think the there is a much stronger reason to believe it is right there and the M-team has chosen to not show that card at this time. #ItsRightThere #2cents
Agreed but if Mueller "has it" & isn't bringing it forward now - why not? My view is he dropped the complaint to show up Trump & to intimidate certain others in US. He must know this will never go to trial so the filing is for other purposes. Power of the state #scary
