I think one other key detail and the reason how we know so much information about what these Russian hackers were doing is because they had been hacked by Dutch Intelligence and that intel was passed on to the US,https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/netherlands-dutch-russia-kremlin-united-states-robert-mueller-intelligence-agencies-cozy-bear-aivd-a8181046.html …

Yes, thanks for adding. But as far as is public, just the location where the hackers worked, not where the info ops people worked.https://www.volkskrant.nl/wetenschap/dutch-agencies-provide-crucial-intel-about-russia-s-interference-in-us-elections~b4f8111b/ …

True. The information detailed in the indictment sounds like there was some level of compromise to the operatives network. Either a network endpoint or individual machines. You do not get that level of detail unless you are sniffing data out of the network or keylogging etc.

It’s the Dutch video of the hackers doing their thing that’s most damning:https://www.reuters.com/article/us-netherlands-russia-cybercrime/dutch-intelligence-agency-spied-on-russian-hacking-group-media-idUSKBN1FE34W …

I thought they never had the servers

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and treat your response as if you're serious. They identified servers that the GRU people used as part of the hack. Those servers were in the US. While they do not explicitly say, we can be highly confident that they have *those* servers.

Your Whataboutism is showing. You would be the cop who doesn’t look in the trunk when the guy you just pulled over tells you “whatever you do, don’t look in the trunk!”

You obviously do not know the meaning of the word. And nothing in that comment I shared is incorrect. It is true.

Have they really forgotten about Rumsfeld's "known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns" already? Also, really tired of armchair IT security experts. If you work in IT, you should know better than to say "it's impossible without an insider."
