Looks like @emptywheel expects substantial new evidence about July 27, 2016 to go public soon. I hope so. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/07/13/the-russian-hack/ …pic.twitter.com/n6BgjJsmKe

I should say, I think someone w/a great deal of insight into how Hillary withstood the hacks will come forward. He has meticulous notes, as I understand it, so I assume that will include the details on that date.

Marcy have you already written about why the FBI was not given access to the DNC servers but they opted to use Crowdstrike instead?

If you read the indictment you'll see there are so many other servers AND that FBI discovered info that CS didn't have, and should from that conclude that this is a stupid question.

Weren’t you asking the same question though early on in your investigation?

No. It was always a stupid question.

why is it a ‘stupid’ question? Other than the fact Lee Stranahan also asked it.

You also say that with the new indictment one should conclude it’s a stupid question, but why do you say it’s always been a stupid question? I’d really like to understand why you think this, especially the always part.

The question always reflected rank ignorance of how cyber investigations work.

Maybe so, but FBI Director Comey testified before Congress that FBI best practices required access to the hacked DNC server, and that multiple requests for access were rebuffed by the DNC. What is an ordinary citizen supposed to think about that?

I mean I would agree, except we know secretary of state Clinton ran her own private email server on a single server in a closet of her home, so can you really rule out stupid in any of these investigations??
