Nadler notes that the subpoena in question was not issued in accordance with House rules. He notes that much of it DOJ cannot turn over. "That of course is the whole point. Republicans requesting docs they know they can't have."

"Ignore the tyranny of the news cycle." Not the hugest Rosenstein fan but this statement nails it.

Wray: In just past week we've had 100 employees working day and night producing thousands of additional pages. [Taking them away from investigating public corruption and whatnot, of course]

WOWOWOWOW. Goodlatte lets DeSantis have the first question. As I never cease to point out, DeSantis is the person MOST EASILY shown to have benefitted from RU tampering.
Show this thread -
The reason Goodlatte did that is bc reporters often run and file their stories. So Goodlatte is letting someone who has HUGE reason to bury RU investigation get the headlines beating up Rosenstein. Will reporters understand that when they get used by this?
Show this thread -
DeSantis just made sure Rosenstein wasn't able to answer the question he just asked.
Show this thread -
DeSantis: We talk about the Mueller investigation but it's really the Rosenstein investigation. It seems like you should be recused from this.

Someone on the Dem side needs to make sure Rosenstein gets to answer the questions that DeSantis didn't let him answer, but on GOP time.

Lofgren notes that some of the witnesses could lose their lives if their identity becomes known. Now lets Rosenstein deny that he threatened HPSCI staff w/contempt.

Rosenstein: If someone comes forward and swears under oath that I threatened them, I'm happy to hear it.

Goodlatte continues to let the FL GOPers who most directly benefitted from the hack and leak have the early press time. And thus far, reporters aren't noting that significance.

Gaetz: Are you aware of any payments made prior to July opening. Rosenstein: No, but I wasn't there. Gatez: Stone and Caputo? Rosenstein: I wasn't there. Conveyed all questions.

Gaetz follows DeSantis' precedent of refusing to let Rosenstein answer. Now also trying to make a scandal out of the fact that Rosenstein won't discuss FISA in public.

@RepGoodlatte for the first time does his job by letting Rosenstein actually answer the question. Half an hour in.Show this thread -
Gaetz now trying to get additional time, "Are they investigating you." (He wants to say Rosenstein needs to recuse.)

Guy who investigated Benghazi for years notes that RU investigation has been going on for 2 years, Mueller over a year.

Gowdy now talking about Strzok talking abt impeachment. Not mentioning that Strzok also said he didn't think there'd be much there.

Gowdy says Mueller hasn't found anything yet. Now says this country is being hurt by Mueller investigation. We've seen the bias. We need to see the evidence. If you have evidence of wrong-doing, present it to GJ.

"Whatever you got, finish it the hell up, bc this country is being torn apart." If Mueller unrolls something major in near term Gowdy may regret that line.

Cohen: Was Strzok head of those investigations? Wray: Supervisory chain, a number of people above him.

Wray: My commitment to doing things by the book is commitment to making sure disciplinary process by the book.

Cohen asks if Rosenstein or Wray knows Mueller's team's political registration. He asked question wrong: It should be how many people are on the team. It's far more than 13 and most aren't Dem supporters.
Show this thread -
Rosenstein: I can assure you Mueller knows I want him to conclude as quickly as possible while still doing it right.

Wray: My experience w/Mueller none of those adjectives would describe anything he's done in his service for this country.
