It is my belief that the Mueller probe is coming to a very imminent head. And also that RU will try to impose very substantial costs on the US when that happens. Spiking fossil fuel costs would be part of it.https://twitter.com/EnergzdEconomy/status/1010519211662331904 …

Russia cannot do too much directly to the US barring military attack. They’re not significant trade partners, we don’t depend on their oil, etc. But they can do a lot to the Trump-Kushner family kleptocracy.
-
The part she mentioned - messing up the global oil supply - is something they can do, even if we don’t buy much of their oil directly. That by itself is not going to be catastrophic to the US. But there are definitely other “asymmetric” things they can pull off.
-
Asymmetric is a pretty weird word for one nation-state to use against another.
-
Also, while both are indeed nation states - in reality, russia is a third world s*hole in every regard other than the nukes. So yes, for poot to have been able to screw w/ our democracy - that’s like taking out a hi-tech spy satellite w/ a fertilizer IED. So yeah, assymetry.
-
That logic is remarkable: The richest nation in the world doesn't lock its door and therefore a burglar coming in it is asymmetric and particularly evil, even if they do the same? Nope. I mean, I get that people like to say that. It's dumb tho.
-
Not sure what you’re talking about, honest. Where the “evil” part came from; was never mentioned or implied. I was talking strictly about the means and effeciencies. What they did in 2016 was crude, low-tech and cheap - but it achieved what nukes could not have. Hence IED analogy
-
Except we also use info warfare, including against RU.
-
OK, you seem to be continuing the conversation we had 2 weeks ago. No, in this one I was not at all implying that we are “better”, less evil, more righteous etc. I simply chimed in to say to somebody, in this new thread, that yes, you are right- russia has means to mess with us.

Indictment city, eh? (If Mueller were heading to the exit with nothing, why hire 4 more prosecutors?)
-
He didn't hire 4 more. He put 4 regular prosecutors on the team dealing with nuisance lawfare from Russia.
-
Sorry. Loose language. I should have said "increased his staff." 4 is still a pretty significant increase. Is he freeing up some prosecutors from his long standing staff for something?

Oh it was always going to be unpleasant for us. Trump ain’t gonna go quietly.
-
I keep hoping for a massive stroke, one debilitating enough to leave him forever frozen like the image of him ridiculing the NY reporter during the campaign.
-
Where his brain is totally aware and has to watch his body failing and defecating on itself. Yes, that kind of stroke.

One niggling thought for me is that when the
hits the fan is that he will put out the call to all of the droolers who attend all of these so called “rally’s” to take an armed stand and come to his aid.
-
Yeah but they're wimps. All for brutality as long as the government does it for them. I mean, they worship Cadet Bonespur as their authoritarian leader. How courageous can they be?
-
Never underestimate ignorant people.

A lot of pent up people, for various reasons, primed and directed by propaganda, and itching for for a climax of worst impulses.

I continue to view it like climate change. We know it's going to be bad, but we are not prepared for the worst case scenario
