Michael Horowitz and Christopher Wray are about to testify before OGR and HJC. Today's hearing will be FAR more contentious than yesterday's. I'm thinking of it as "The Fight for Trey Gowdy's Soul."

Part of the reason I say that is explained here: the GOP has issued new extortion demands of Wray and Rosenstein, including what would be grand jury material. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/06/17/in-attempt-to-learn-how-much-mueller-knows-about-roger-stones-collusion-devin-nunes-blames-fbi-for-stone-and-michael-caputos-perjury-to-hpsci/ …

Gowdy had been very supportive of Mueller's inquiry up until IG Report released. But that changed Friday and Sunday, when Gowdy said any prosecutions pursuant to the investigation would be improper (in spite of the evidence that Strzok lost his bid to investigate aggressively)

Replying to @emptywheel
It’s hard to get a read on Gowdy - one day he seems to have independent thought and convictions, the next he’s drunk the kool aid and promising he’ll get everyone the info on the alien spaceship behind the meteor.

It is not an unfair conclusion from the report AS IT WAS PRESENTED that Strzok was problematic. That's bc it doesn't focus on NY Agents (who are under criminal investigation, I think). And bc it is divorced from the RU decisions.
