In which Chuck takes evidence that DOJ launched an investigation into Carter Page leaks specifically as evidence that his keys were right there under the street light all the time.https://twitter.com/ChuckRossDC/status/1005116881068544001 …

My post on Wolfe does focus on the seriousness of leaks abt Page, and what that might say abt FBI's ability to viably investigate him. https://www.emptywheel.net/2018/06/08/on-the-james-wolfe-indictment-dont-forget-carter-page/ …

He's weaving his story while trying to maintain an air of objectivity. The comments to his posts alone give you a pretty good sense of the intention: raise skepticism about our institutions...
-
So his stories are so dumb because he's dumb? I don't think that's right, tbh.
-
Uhm... that's how my comment came across?
-
Sorry. I overreacted. My bad, and I apologize.

He's just writing with an agenda, is my opinion. Every paragraph he writes has a hint of "gotcha" in it. I don't see that in most writers at other outlets; their writing remains more neutral. He doesn't strike me as objective, no matter how hard he tries to maintain appearances

To some extent all journos (myself included) are a reflection of their sources. But yeah, he's definitely not able to test his own preconceptions very well.
-
Nailed it. Well said.

Yeah, until yesterday's indictment, I think Chuck was absolutely certain FBI officials were behind the Page leaks, and that could still be true. The congressional leaks issue might also be why rosenstein & wray aren't thrilled with nunes' constant requests.
-
Burr has gone overboard preventing leaks from SSCI. It's the HPSCI side that's a sieve, on both sides, and SJC less so.

I believe the took these particular leaks seriously because it revealed his involvement in the 2013 Russian case. Early reporting on case make clear Page is the FBI undercover employee - only to be spun as a potential “recruit” by the NYT after Ali broke the story.pic.twitter.com/rtgEAQHCkf

Hi. You're a moron.
-
Wow. That was completely uncalled for. I base my theory on the DOJ press release, early reporting of the case and the court docs. It’s not a ridiculous conclusion. What makes you believe he was the Russian recruit?

"Wow." As per usual, emptywheel showed admirable restraint. Invite you to familiarize with https://www.emptywheel.net/tag/carter-page/ … Then please apologize and donate https://www.emptywheel.net/support/

Uhm, the sound conclusion from the indictment is that Carter Page's IDENTITY is classified at TOP SECRET level bc he was a bonefide INFORMANT for FBI prosecution of 3 SVR agents. Are you for real?https://twitter.com/MonsieurAmerica/status/1006610465873543168 …
