To give you a sense of a shitshow the superseding indictment v MalwareTech is, last August, a prosecutor told a judge that Hutchins admitted his code became Kronos. Today, the government claims Hutchins lied about his code becoming Kronos.

The USG told a judge last year that "Hutchins admitted he was author of code that became Kronos malware." Today they accused him of lying by saying "he did not know his computer code was part of Kronos until he reverse engineered the malware sometime in 2016."

Sounds reasonable, given that they have him discussing it in logs he calls undeniable.

I understand these aren't contradictory positions. Are you suggesting it's unreasonable to both say he admitted he's the author after seeing the chat logs & that he's lying about discovering his code was incorporated by chance?https://twitter.com/emptywheel/status/1004462918581309441?s=19 …

Perhaps you should click through where so you can see where the prosecutor said he also admitted he sold it. That doesn't seem to jive w/your interpretation, and yours in any case wouldn't seem to be material.

I'm honestly interested in tracking the people who make it their business on Twitter to argue you should go to prison. Interesting insight into views of order and security and in rare occasions law, I guess.

Mostly but perhaps not entirely. Plus if I didn't track Aitel's views on this point I wouldn't recognize the subtweets in your team's court filings.
