Both. The court documents show several pieces of dICloud data that was corrraborated by other parties, as well as some dat that was solely from the iCloud backups and metadata.

I think 1) Definitely Kilimnik and possibly Manafort are pwned, which is where the files first came from 2) That may have led to a follow-up w/the Mercury guys which led to voluntary production of the extra files 3) the time zones are telling.

Now that FBI can hack with a warrant, we should expect the same kind of hacking we've seen evidence of against overseas/704b targets in the US. And given that this iCloud warrant is only now being disclosed it may be some time to find out about a hacking warrant.
