It is WhatsApp. But that doesn't appear to be the primary way they got it.
The app supports voice and texts both, encrypts the texts, logs call records to iCloud. The text doesn’t confirm that the texts were saved to iCloud. You can initiate a call from Messages. Almost has to be Messages.
Or not. Wow, remind me never to use WhatsApp for secure comms.
Line uploads backups to iCloud if a user requests it, and they do have encryption if enabled.
The only encrypted app that will show up in iCloud is iMessage.
