I don't know. I would always tell people my Dobie isn't a digger. That was before a squirrel slipped under our cedar privacy fence. The 75 lb dog dug a hole deep enough to get in up to his shoulders, then turned his head around and chewed up a few feet of the board fence above.

June Bug the terrorist foster dog decided she'd dig under the field stone pathway, where a big weed used to be.
-
I was lucky enough to catch him in the middle of it. He'd buzz saw'd a hole in the fence and it was bloody from him chewing it. Had blood and splinters in his gums. I asked the neighbor if he saw it happen. He said, " "No but I heard it. I thought you were sawing something."

This is not a breed for a first time dog owner LOL As a matter of fact, neither is JR terrorist!

JB the terrierist foster dog is part Boston, part Pit, and apparently part Lab. Cute as hell but definitely trouble.

@Cheryl_Crowe taught our Papillon (a tiny kinda terrier, I guess) to dig for her, where she pointed. -
I'm hoping to sic June Bug on the Deleuzian (Jerusalem) artichokes. It might be a fair fight.

I turn the sprinkler on and work under the mist because the only thing my pup likes more than destroying freshly-planted flora is not being in range of the sprinkler

Will remember that one, thanks.

Ha! My crazy pup loves to help me garden by pulling random plants, stealing tools, gloves, containers etc while head is turned. Keep a hose close by. Eventually they outgrow it.

Patiently. Choose the battles wisely and be aware of times when boundaries need to be enforced - a leash, "nap time", a fence, etc. 35+ years of compromise and surprise.
