2D battle backgrounds in mobile games typically feature a static image or animation that provides a visual backdrop for the action taking place on the screen. There are 30 "battle backgrounds“ packs on the Unity asset store ($10 to $25 for a set of 5-10 backgrounds)

I started with this (royalty-free) dataset of 16 existing battle backgrounds It's a good training dataset with some diversity (colors, themes) but also consistent compositions (flat space in the foreground, detailed background) I created a Generator on scenario.gg

As explained in previous tweets, I always start "exploring the generator" (finetune) by testing various prompt modifiers on scenario.gg For example, this was "Battle background, Mobile game, background, forest, elfish, magic, enchanted"

Now, it can be challenging to get all sorts of ideas, concepts, and themes for the different background. To help me find new themes, I used #ChatGPT "Q: Can you describe 5 ideas for a 2D Battle Background in a mobile game?" Answers below:

I copy/pasted the text provided by ChatGPT into scenario.gg This is what I got for the 1st one "2D Battle Background, medieval castle courtyard, picturesque setting with stone walls, a cobblestone courtyard, and a drawbridge in the background"

Therefore, I asked more ideas to ChatGPT. Here are 5 more themes for new battle backgrounds. - A pirate ship - An enchanted forest - A desert oasis - An industrial city - An underwater world In each case, the background is also detailed

I even asked for 10 additional original ideas (and later, up to 30 more) 1. A space station 2. A circus 3. A haunted mansion 4. A jungle temple 5. A lava-filled cave: 6. A western town 7. A frozen tundra 8. A futuristic laboratory 9. A medieval village 10. A dragon's lair
