Hello, female high school student here. I would just like to say that the emergence of this whole "teenage boys should get a pass because they're not mature enough to understand consent" narrative is probably one of the most unsettling things I have ever witnessed.

This tweet and the one from yesterday are just heartbreaking to me. I am a lot older than you and I remember having similar conversations 35 years ago. I can't believe this is still going on. I can't believe it isn't better and that 2 generations later women and girls still1/

I find it has the same feel to it as the idea that a woman should not dress 'provocatively' as if the male human can't control themselves at all. it's blame the victim &, strangely, make excuses for the criminal by insulting nearly half the population, everyone should be outraged

A stance I find counter-productive, even if taken at face value: "I can't control myself, so you can see why I'm the perfect candidate to be in judgement of others...."
