A huge part of asking for feedback is being willing to listen. It's hard not to rebut w/ your reasoning,but if you do, the giver can't feel safe sharing their authentic experience. It suggests you're not looking to improve, but instead justify decisions you've already made.

Why the word "#diversity" is counterproductive to building equitable, fair organizations: a thread, a rant. First: #language has both literal and contextual / socially constructed meaning. For our purposes, I'm talking about the socially constructed meaning of "diversity".

Besides hiring (and sometimes sadly firing), It's my believe that companies can only become better by the individuals in the company getting better. The skill of the company is the sum of the individuals skills and context. "Company" is purely a collective term.

My team joked that I say the word “efficient” too often. I smiled and thought, “mission accomplished”. Alignment and clarity is hard. Repeating something until it becomes annoying should be every managers goal. #mondaythoughts #alignment

Forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for that thing you said. Or that thing you forgot to say. That thing you did. Or whatever you've been avoiding. Forgive yourself, and remember this. You are not perfect. Nobody requires you to be. You can f**k up from time to time.
