The question I have about data dumps like this is… how can I help? I’m totally willing to be a data janitor if that would help. I just don’t know whay my idiot self can do to help humanity here. Or even how to get to the point where I’d know what to DO to help.

A lot of analysis in the service of Planck’s primary mission has been done. (For example, see the list of publications: https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/planck/publications ….) But there’s a couple of other issues. First is that there is additional new physics to be gleaned from the raw data by specialists.
-
Second is taking the extremely technical analysis of the primary mission and translating it into meaningful information for the lay public. For example, the gravitational lensing is in the form of B-mode (magnetic curl) EM polarization. But what does that _mean_?
-
If the answer is just that there’s nothing useful I (an idiot with zero domain knowledge) can do, I can accept that I guess.
-
Possibly not? (I’m not sure you’re an idiot.) I guess what really concerns me is, this is a brand new way of seeing the universe (aside from a speculative glimpse in 2013), and it seems like a future frontier of physics and astronomy, and there’s almost nothing about it online.
-
That seems weird to me. And like a loss for the world. And I can’t tell if I just suck at searching, or if I’m overblowing this, or if there just hasn’t been enough time for things to be written.
