I think the real issue here is, assuming his conduct rises to a fireable offense, whether it also is so egregious that he should be denied a pension he worked a decade for. As such, agree that career official like Schools should make decision

I.e. He's already agreed to leave the bureau, so decision should be made on whether its bad enough to strip him of his pension

As I said yesterday, robbing him of pension doesn’t make sense or follow the normal practice of how DOJ or FBI deals with discipline or removal of its staff. They’d always let the clock run. That makes it smack all the more of a political firing of a career SES employee.
