    So many people think about making a product first, then try to find a market for it. Which can work, but is backwards. The better way is to identify a pain point in a market and solve it better than anyone else does.

    This screen was designed carefully for a business goal. Your brain doesn’t immediately interpret that little X as an option to clear this or to decline. It just wants to bypass ASAP. You’ve probably hit Continue (“Agree”) without realizing it over the past few years. Slow down.

    What % of users would you estimate tap the X on the top left vs. the big Continue button on bottom? I’d guess 5%. This is not user-first design, it’s business-first. Takes advantage of our fast tap habit. Most ppl don’t realize what they agree to here: ongoing contact data sync.

    One of my clients provides tech for global cruise lines' migrant workforce. Many seafarers send money home for cash pickup. 2019 remittances= US $573B, with $422B to developing countries. It's easy to forget how many are unbanked here, too. Remember our echo chambers.

    Kia Seltos / Josh Jacobs ad: from what I could tell that was originally composed piano music and it worked nicely. Borrowing existing pop music would’ve seemed forced or sappy. Still, didn’t hear a sonic logo at the end - that was visual only.

    It’s one after another. “Paint It Black” in ad. “Reach Out I’ll Be There” in ad. Both could have used some neat audio marks b/c both CPGs make a recognizable sound when you open them. Taste & sound are mighty sensory and recall triggers.

    Talk about a missed opportunity of millions of impressions. Here’s a chance to introduce or revive or reinforce an audio logo or greater sonic DNA. Few if any brands have tonight. I see you but I don’t hear you.

    More borrowed pop culture: “Rocket Man” theme in ad. When you lease music you miss out on using original sonic branding that you can carry to every touchpoint. $80 billion voice commerce market by 2023 and nobody knows the sound of your brand.

    The Google Assistant ad is a limited preview of the voice assistant of the future, what has described as your . Google will pull ahead of Alexa with this and other functionality, including stronger context recognition.

    Cheetohs leased commercial music with “Can’t Touch This” as the rented theme of the ad. (Because cheesy popcorn fingers.) Floating digital MC Hammer head makes this look even cheaper like bad podcast art. Borrowing existing & old culture = lazy. No sonic branding = miss.

    When we become truly , the mobile/SMS portion will be moot. For now, good: For Coca-Cola's Share a Coke campaign, a new Alexa voice-based command lets Australian consumers redeem a free personalized Coke, delivered to them. Reach goal: 20mm

    I’ve been listening to Dr. Death. does such a good job. shared this infographic and so many of these biases apply to the Christopher Duntsch situation. Authority Bias, Groupthink, Status Quo Bias, and more were at play.
