On RFK, his titanium vocal bridge, and vaccine matters is one of the best journalists .She gets to subjects, illuminating without deriding. Brings devastating clarity, rigorous reporting and excellent writing. (Also - who trains their dogs like that?)

I've been reporting on Robert Kennedy Jr and his anti-vaccine activism for over a decade. In May, I went on a hike with RFK JR to hear what plans the conspiracy theorist and long-shot presidential candidate had for the White House. It was unsettling. nbcnews.com/politics/2024-

From our extensive work on partisan dollars going into local news-like ‘pink slime’ outlets, one thing that has really struck me is how there is agreement from the funders across the political spectrum that this is the workable model for financing ‘local news’. Which is alarming

the flow of money and strategy in the extreme right in the US uses trans and lgbtq issues to defund public education and terrorize youth - we see it every day. ‘The UK is not America’ was always a obtuse or naive position. This is DeSantisland - lose on economics, attack culture

Appalling if true. Sunak copying worst Republican states in US - outing LGBT teens to their parents, misgendering them & banning them from sport. Comes day after he was caught mocking trans women. thesun.co.uk/news/22733965/

News markets are desperately hard to research - and kudos to for continuing to do it at scale . We could have much richer knowledge and more diversity of views if the access to data were not all locked up by the companies that create and control digital markets

Trust as an issue in news has been relentlessly pushed by Google, Facebook etc as it distracts from their own very significant role in destabilizing the democratic functions of news gathering .

Is an historically low trust in news in Hungary a reflection of the almost complete annihilation of independent media, or a reflection of Orban’s control over the narrative? One size doesn’t fit all markets…

It doesn’t mean there are not issues with news journalism that need fixing, but there are other commercial + political forces at play. Eg tech companies sponsor research into the problem of ‘trust in news’ when their own trust ratings are *much* lower

This is what the champions league is all about! Why it was created. So the richest teams would qualify each year (even if they didn’t win their league) & get richer & now the richest team in the world (who UEFA wanted to ban for financial corruption) win the trophy. Perfection!

This is a fantastic book end of grift, to the towering pile of twaddle the WSJ editorial board produced on Trump’s indictment - if only these very fine politicians had been given a chance by the arrayed forces against democracy

Odd that the Mail - normally on the side of middle England and honesty in public life - should weep such angry tears over the liar Johnson. They must know of the Tory majority on the privileges committee, and their Brexit voting record

To mark the anniversary of the referendum, #BBCQT has an all-Brexiter audience, for a 'Special'. I don't know how special it is to ignore Remain voters, people who didn't vote, or young people and EU citizens who couldn't vote. Pretty much what BBC has done for seven years. ~AA

One very interesting dynamic of the Prince Harry court hearings has been some of the broadcast interviewers really stepping up to ask hard questions of the tabloid apologists. On the whole it has been a difficult week for the UK press pack - and it’s only Wednesday
