At scale, a user community can completely dwarf the size of the company itself Tableau is a great example: “Only” 4,500 employees, but: One million members across groups, forums & Tableau Public One million students & instructors on Tableau Academic Community = superpower

I feel like a lot of US citizens don’t quite get how hard it is to get an immigrant visa even if you are super qualified—many friends/family have struggled w the H1-B lottery or spent months applying for an O1 or got denied entry even though they have MIT degrees/great jobs/etc

1/ Ever seen a company where customers loved the product but the company STILL failed? Over 10 years I’ve seen this way too many times. It’s caused me to question whether the importance product market fit is a myth. Check this out 👇

Josh Kopelman of First Round Capital: we can look at every company we’ve ever funded, and learned that the time from first email/contact to term sheet has shrunk from 90 days in 2004 to just 9 today.

When the standard airline cabin was designed (the 707 in the early 1950s), flights were about 63% full. Now they're about 84% full. So the cabin you're flying in now has less than half as much empty space as its designers expected.

Fascinating to compare the half-life of content across platforms (time it takes for a piece of content to reach 50% of its total lifetime engagement) 🧐 Twitter: 20 mins Facebook: 5 hrs Instagram: 20 hrs LinkedIn: 24 hrs YouTube: 20 days Pinterest: 4 mos Blog post: 2 yrs

Something I explained to my 10 yo last night: Some areas of science and technology will advance a lot more than others in the next 50 years, and you can't predict which. All we can say for sure about the future is that some things will change a lot, and others hardly at all.
