"Attention-seeking" is short hand for 'Doesnt need attention/support". As though ignoring, criticising, punishing & dimissing is the default behaviour for individuals working in 'caring' professions capable of kindness only to people they perceive as deserving/unwell.

There definitely is an expectation that "SU" will rally behind different "MH profs" like a very strange and sad feudal war. When you express an opinion people quickly think you've chosen a side, which says a lot about their vanity.

Whatever our views based on our own experiences they are valid. I for one feel unable to comment for fear of taking ‘sides’. Think of the power imbalance!!!

In my opinion this creates more division of non MH professional service user/ survivors. Whatever our views based on our own experiences they are valid. I for one feel unable to comment for fear of taking ‘sides’. Think of the power imbalance!!!

I’ve been following some of the ongoing attacks by MH professionals on each other on here. Bloody hell!

The new criteria for ICD-11 seems likely to put anyone with long term mental health problems at risk of a PD diagnosis.

It's distasteful how MH practitioners are proud of themselves for taking risks with the safety of people (usually women) branded with a personality disorder. Pioneers braving the wild, they congratulate themselves on tolerating the 'discomfort' & 'uncertaintly' of risk-taking.

Can any of my wonderful psych-y friends point me in the direction of research about mentalisation and C-PTSD?

🤔having seen invitations going out to join online book groups, am wondering if a MadTwitter book group would work/have interest? What do you think?

When I have opinions about transgender ‘stuff’ which directly affects me but decide not to tweet, RT or comment because you know it will mainly lead to ! I have no one else to chat to about this and it’s painful!

Finding the relentless stigma against folk labelled with personality disorders painful to witness as an outsider. Not sure how well I’d cope if I knew it was aimed at me. Try not to perpetuate it, eh?

Whilst social media can be harmful to some, to others it is our lifeline. Those with severe MI get a lot of support from places like twitter. Sometimes it’s the only access we have with other humans. People on twitter have helped me more than any mental health service ever has!
