Part of the genius of the typeface Digestive by Jérémy Landes () is that it evokes such intense negative responses from autistic people. In this post, we discuss more of those.

And I love this one: “I feel sorry for the font and I want to give it a hug. I want to find a way to include it in my art even though it triggers my migraines. We have conflicting needs, but I’m doing my best to be loving and tolerant.”

Some quotes: “YES It’s bothersome beyond belief! And for that alone it’s a masterpiece!” “Worst font ever award. Like trying to read posters put up in a house of mirrors.” “Who would do that to them??? Why would you treat your words like that”

Has anyone heard of Mew2King, an autistic Super Smash Bros. Melee world champion? I didn’t know who he was until this article, but he is quite a fascinating person! After that, I watched several videos about his story on YouTube.

One teacher having a bad day can turn into a traumatic experience that has a profound impact on the life and personality of the adult-to-be. This is why it's so important that teachers are consistently competent, compassionate, and understanding.

This is a very important message! Work with the needs and capacities of the (autistic) child, rather than trying to force them into a mold that doesn't fit them. Read more here:

But the NAR also shows high IQ is more common in autism. It seems IQ among autistic people is highly polarized. Read more here:

We found that according to the NAR (the Dutch Autism Register) the percentage of autistics with an IQ below 70 is 7.5%. That's 3 times as much as in the general public (2.3% according to NAR), but 10 times less than often claimed.

We could use a lot more autistic positivity in general! Things I love about my autistic wife: - She is compassionate, understanding, and non-judgmental. - She cares a lot about people. - She is funny and bright. - She loves learning and teaching. - She makes me very happy!

Research shows the low sociability attributed to autism is actually—at least in part—due to often co-occurring alexithymia!

Alexithymia is so common among autistic people that it is commonly mistaken for autism itself. Here I explain what alexithymia is and how it presents itself in autism. A lot of fascinating information in this post!

: Autustic people lack empathy. : Some of us do, but it's not due to autism but co-occurring alexithymia! (I am writing an alexithymia & autism guide with a lot of cool research-based information which will be published later today.)

I found this in the abstract of a paper: “26 adults with ASD and 26 healthy participants completed tasks…” Really quite odd use of language here, autistic vs. healthy. The implication being that autism amounts to being unhealthy.
