Ha! I was literally just writing the tweets down, swapping ‘Americans’ for ‘Australians’ and deciding to adopt the same mission. But to your question - I don’t know!! Less than 20%? Less than 50%?

Apparently half the population knows they are connected. I think the problem is that most people believe the Australian, the Courier Mail etc- Murdoch Press. So when they share the PM saying Australia is doing enough on climate change they believe ithttps://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.news.com.au/technology/environment/climate-change/australians-believe-climate-change-has-made-the-threat-of-bushfires-worse/news-story/8b6642671959df9dd245982d4d781b03 …

@vivianharris45 is sharing how the ABC covers climate change but yes something like@EndClimtSilence for Australia could be good. How to get people out of abstract thought and into action is the other question. This piece captures this well.https://twitter.com/heidi_k_edmonds/status/1211971458341072896?s=19 …Dr Heidi Edmonds added,
Dr Heidi Edmonds @heidi_k_edmonds'This the story of two Australias. The Australia that is saturated with the reality of the climate catastrophe. The Australia for whom it remains abstract. The photos are awful...but like every other story in the newsfeed, it is displaced by the next one' https://www.abc.net.au/religion/the-tragedy-of-two-australias-lament-for-new-years-eve/11835086 …2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

"Two Australias" reminds me of this (h/t
@cityatlas): "It was as though I and everyone around me were living in a state of double consciousness: both aware & living as though we were not aware, making plans for a future that was preposterously unstable."https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2016/09/27/leaving-the-climate-bubble/ …4 replies 5 retweets 6 likes -

Case in point. I can assure you the print version is even more dismissive of good science.https://twitter.com/gingerandhoney/status/1212519916533776386?s=19 …

Stephanie H ConveryVerified account @gingerandhoneyI don’t actually understand how an editor could sit there in the middle of this astronomical climate-related bushfire crisis and think, yeah, this bloke with an onion who says rain is coming is the story everyone needs right now https://twitter.com/couriermail/status/1212509918206382080 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes
