Yes – you were taught wrong. Journalism has a huge problem when it comes to reporting on the climate crisis. Time for reflection, discussion, commitment to do better.https://twitter.com/kiphillreporter/status/1189698451682013196 …

Who are you talking about when you talk about "journalism"? Because I've seen dozens of front page stories from my own newspaper, and national newspapers, addressing the issue. Highlighting people advocating for change. Offering cost/benefit analyses of policies to address it.

@EndClimtSilence has lots of good examples. Here NYT mentioned climate but TV coverage failed:https://twitter.com/EndClimtSilence/status/1188974432183820289 …Emily Cunningham added,
EndClimateSilence.org @EndClimtSilenceCA is burning. Hundreds of thousands are in darkness & danger of losing their homes. Per the@nytimes: this is "a story of the growing challenges that climate change presents to those living in the West." Yet how does the TV news cover this? With 100% climate silence. I'll admit that a solutions-based approach is probably lacking in a lot of this coverage, but I don't agree with the narrative that "the media" (whatever the hell that means anymore) is simply ignoring it.

The critique is not that all media, all of the time is "ignoring it." Rather, that significant coverage is lacking a significant amount of the time – not that it is *never* covered. And therefor does not give public proper context to understand how climate impacted X event.

And media *does* ignore climate in very important moments that have utterly failed the public. Can you honestly say NYT and CNN were dong their jobs here? I'm *not* arguing that elsewhere they have covered climate, but this is shockingly egregious:https://twitter.com/DoctorVive/status/1184295450049990656 …

For not asking a question in a debate? I think on the list of egregious journalistic offenses, that one’s pretty low.

Not a, um, middle school debate... the debate between candidates one of whom may be the next leader of the most powerful nation on earth who's policies would make or break us staving off climate catastrophe. Not asking the question signals to the public that it's not important.

If you think NYT and CNN were doing their jobs, then I don't know what to say. If you think all of those TV outlets were doing their job reporting on the CA fires, I'm at a loss, but ask you to please take a moment and reflect.

Please try to understand what I'm trying to communicate. Even if you don't agree with everything I'm saying, please try to sit with it. Please consider that I may be seeing something here. Thanks.
