Yes, the disconnect is astounding. It's like presenting yourself as a firefighter while, behind the scenes (and really, not that far behind the scenes) being an arsonist. We are, essentially, being asked to abdicate our responsibility to think and just trust.

Aye. The whole reason treating corporations as individuals under law is that (by design!) they’re explicitly without morals: unlike humans (excepting psychopaths), they have no capacity for guilt. At best. they might work to avoid public shaming, which is why shaming them works.
