@moorehn Heidi, I read your explainer thread on the inverted yield curve – so helpful! Thank you. I'm wondering if you've written about the convergence of finance, the economy, and the climate crisis? It's something I'm trying to wrap my head around.

I'm also looking for other thinkers/writers in this space I can learn from. Any ideas? There seems to be a number of stressers: 2/

1) climate change has obliterated our old models of "certainty" - we now live in a time of uncertainty. One example: insurance companies models are all over the place. They can no longer predict how often X or Y extreme weather events will occur. 3/

2) certain industries are the canary in the coal mine. For instance, the insurance and coastal real estate industries. 4/

3) how freak'n costly climate chaos is! Damn. But reading the replies in your "inverted yield curve" thread, maybe we can keep borrowing from ourselves and since our national debt doesn't really matter, it's not really something to worry about? 5/

4) the inevitability of the carbon bubble pop. Fossil fuel companies' valuation is based on reserves of oil being used. But... if that were to happen, the results would be truly catastrophic. More and more people are realizing this, which shakes investor confidence. 6/

4 continued) Since so much of our economy is based on fossil fuels, and a smooth transition to renewable energy seems unlikely, this seems like a big, ah, stresser. 7/
