QQ @QuinnyPig, could you do a Screaming In The Cloud episode with an "activist" Amazon employee? See e.g.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/10/technology/amazon-climate-change-letter.html …

Almost certainly not; a hard line for me is “nobody gets in trouble for appearing on the show” and this is terrifically likely to cross that unless Amazon signs off.

I know one of the Amazon employees who is vocal about it (
@emahlee). To the point of raising a shareholder resolution.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -
My thought was that the larger topic could include Google, not just Amazon, so not strictly necessary for the guest to be an Amazonian

A dozen of us have spoken to the NYT & countless other media about the importance of Amazon taking immoderate, bold climate leadership. I’ve faced no repercussions and, quite honestly, even if I had, it would be more than worth it given what’s at stake.https://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/1132036801328238593?s=21 …

I wouldn’t want to presume on any individual’s willingness to speak up ( I know
@lizthegrey is pretty active so felt comfortable tagging her). I think@QuinnyPig has in interesting/smaller/selective listener base, plus he has a background NYT & co do not, so (1/2)2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

@emahlee I 100% endorse@QuinnyPig and by speaking on his podcast you'd be speaking directly to AWS customers. Topics I imagine you and folks you work with might be able to discuss are the carbon impact of Amazon's datacenters, what current AWS customers can do, etc.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Two more, though it would be good to get folks who are BIPOC: @garyacook has done a lot of research and tracking on AWS's clean vs dirty energy mix. And @bcmerchant has excellent reporting on this topic. See:https://gizmodo.com/amazon-is-aggressively-pursuing-big-oil-as-it-stalls-ou-1833875828 …
