Thanks, Dan. Curious to hear your thoughts about the role designers can play in the climate crisis. "One of the biggest problems facing designers is how to create a more humane future." Maybe the biggest problem threatening our collective future is the climate crisis.
Tough one. There are certainly designers working on this right now: raising awareness of the crisis, championing sustainability, making the invisible (although more and more visible) changes to the planet visible.
As designers I think we have a special role to play in the climate crisis. We have unique skills and training. But each one of us, no matter our skills and strengths, needs to be doing everything we can to ensure we avert catastrophic warming.
Amazon designers like me and @marencosta have been visible and outspoken about Amazon needing to lead on #climatecrisis. None of us can sit back anymore hoping "someone" will do something. *We* all have to act. As designers, we can help usher along so much good.

The architect behind the Green New Deal, @rgunns, has a background in design research... and it shows. We need to figure out how to apply our talents and leverage our power at influential tech (and other) companies toward the #ClimateCrisis.https://twitter.com/emahlee/status/1094445543583961088 …
Emily Cunningham added,
As a field, as a profession the UX community need to do some serious reckoning with the #ClimateCrisis. The IPCC report basically says we need to transform every aspect of our society in a very short amount of time. How do we help people imagine what this could be?

"Everyone needs to do *everything* they can, starting at the highest level of power they can reach and moving as fast as possible." #ClimateCrisis
What does this mean for us as designers? Living in a world who's future is being so severely threatened?https://twitter.com/emahlee/status/1133843464888524800 …
