*Deep* gratitude for your writing. In trying to understand the climate emergency, these lines stood out to me: "if the human race has only 30 years of life yet" "delay the inevitable" "if the end really is only a few decades away, and no human intervention can stop it" 1/
In a genuine spirit of wanting to learn, I wanted to ask you about these lines. I'm grappling with your words, and what I've also heard from scientists and others I trust, namely that certain levels of catastrophe are not inevitable. 2/

I also hadn't heard the "30 years of life" timeline. From what I've learned so far (but I genuinely want to understand what you know), human extinction is probably not likely, and how bad it gets (though not an "end") will be decided by our actions now. 3/

Thoughts on this? Am I missing something important that I need to read up on and face? Is 30 years a trajectory on social collapse only? Or ecological collapse as well? Thank you
