This is important to unpack because Amazon will often throw around numbers that may seem impressive at the outset, put only because the numbers lack context making them hard to evaluate and easy for Amazon to use in greenwashing (ie justifying that they're doing enough). 2/

Back to the Vox piece. As evidence Amazon is "doing a lot" they say, "The company has invested in wind power and solar power," and links to a 2017 @drvox. Dave gets into solar and wind projects.
Hopefully we can see now that the solar panels aren't "a lot." What about wind?

From 2014-2016 Amazon "made admirable strides toward achieving its goal, bankrolling large solar plants and wind farms. Then, it stopped. Amazon hasn’t announced any new deals to supply clean energy to its data centers since 2016." (Tho the day the story published, it had.) 10
Hmmm...seems like interesting timing that new wind projects would be announced after employees started pressuring the company. But I digress. 11/
I encourage everyone to read @bcmerchant's whole article. His reporting makes clear Amazon has not been doing "a lot" on wind or solar.
